ASA Is Hiring: Subject Matter Specialist (Agriculture) Across Four States
ASA, which has spent 30 years working to strengthen rural communities and ensure livelihoods with equity and dignity, has announced an opening for a Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) - Agriculture. The role is for people who want to work in sustainable agriculture at the grassroots level.
About the Role
The SMS will lead sustainable agriculture initiatives, including Organic and RCI programmes, in the assigned ASA programme region. The role involves working closely with agronomists at the FCO and team levels, so strong field coordination and mentoring skills matter as much as technical knowledge.
Location
The position covers four states:
Madhya Pradesh
Chhattisgarh
Jharkhand
Odisha
Eligibility
Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Agriculture or Agroforestry from a recognized university or institution.
Experience: At least 4 years in the relevant field.
Preference: Candidates from the NGO or agriculture sector are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Capacity building and field demonstration
Oversee capacity-building programmes for agronomists at the FCO and team levels.
Lead demonstration programmes such as PVSP, FLD and Kheti Badi Kendra across the assigned area.
Programme design and certification
Design, develop, execute and evaluate sustainable agriculture extension programmes around KBK in project clusters.
Plan and coordinate with the Certification Team for agriculture programmes under standards such as Organic, RCI, GAP and IPM/NPM.
Monitoring, reporting and outreach
Ensure monitoring and reporting of programme data through MIS.
Mobilise stakeholders on good agricultural practices.
Handle timely documentation and reporting as required by each theme or project.
Collaborate with local stakeholders, including government departments, to build partnerships and promote joint initiatives.
Why This Role Matters
The SMS sits at the point where field practice, certification standards and data reporting meet. Beyond training agronomists and running demonstrations, the person in this role is expected to turn field activity into documented, MIS-backed evidence and to build working relationships with government departments and communities. It suits an agriculture professional who wants to see sustainable farming scale across several states.
How to Apply
Send your CV to jobs.asa@asabhopal.org with all relevant information, including details of at least two recent professional references. The email subject line must clearly read “Subject Matter Specialist-Agriculture”.
The announcement does not mention a salary or last date to apply, so candidates may want to apply promptly and confirm details with ASA.
