ASA Is Hiring: Cluster Co-ordinator – Plantations (Agroforestry) in MP East
Action for Social Advancement (ASA), a development organisation working to improve rural livelihoods, has announced a vacancy for Cluster Co-ordinator – Plantations (Agroforestry). The position is for its MP East operations. For professionals with a background in forestry, agroforestry, or social science, it is a chance to work directly with farming communities in some of Madhya Pradesh’s most rural districts.
About ASA
ASA works under the guiding line “Ensuring livelihoods with equity and dignity.” It is celebrating 30 years of cultivating stronger and smarter rural communities. Its work centres on farmers, women’s groups, and village-level institutions, helping them build sustainable sources of income.
Job Location
The role covers six districts of MP East:
Umariya
Dindori
Mandla
Anuppur
Shahdol
Betul
Because the cluster spans several districts, candidates should be comfortable with frequent travel and long periods of fieldwork.
Qualification and Experience
ASA is looking for candidates with:
A Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, preferably with experience in community development projects, or a degree in Social Science.
A minimum of 4–5 years of experience in agroforestry and agri-horticulture.
Practical field experience matters as much as academic qualifications here. Candidates who have worked with farmers on plantation activities will have an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
The Cluster Co-ordinator will be responsible for five main areas:
Community Mobilization and Coordination: Engaging villages, farmer groups, and local stakeholders, and building their participation in the programme.
Land Onboarding and Field Preparation: Identifying suitable land, enrolling farmers, and getting plots ready for plantation work.
Farmer Orientation and Training: Running sessions that help farmers understand agroforestry practices and the benefits of plantations.
Support in Plantation Operations: Assisting with day-to-day plantation activities in the field and making sure work is carried out properly.
Data Collection and Digital Reporting: Recording field progress and submitting accurate reports through digital tools.
Skills and Competencies
Beyond experience, ASA expects the following skills:
Experience working with community development or rural livelihood projects.
Ability to conduct farmer orientations, mobilization activities, and field meetings.
Familiarity with smartphone-based applications and basic Excel.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently in field conditions with frequent travel.
Willingness to learn new digital tools, such as GIS applications.
The emphasis on digital skills reflects how field programmes now work. Data collected through mobile apps and spreadsheets supports better monitoring, so candidates comfortable with technology will stand out.
Remuneration
ASA offers “a competitive and attractive salary package commensurate with qualifications and experience.” No specific figure is given, so the final offer will likely depend on the candidate’s background and the interview outcome.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should send their CV to jobs.asa@asabhopal.org. The application must include:
All relevant information about education and work experience.
Details of at least two recent professional references.
The subject line: “Application for Cluster Co-ordinator - Plantations”.
Following the subject line instruction matters, as it helps the recruitment team sort applications quickly. The poster also carries a QR code for further details. The announcement does not state a last date to apply, so interested candidates should apply as soon as possible.
Why This Opportunity Is Worth Considering
This role suits professionals who want their work to have visible, ground-level impact. Agroforestry combines environmental benefits, such as tree cover and better land use, with economic benefits for farmers. A Cluster Co-ordinator sits at the centre of that effort, connecting the organisation’s plans with the realities of village life.
For candidates with four to five years of agroforestry experience who enjoy fieldwork and community engagement, this is a strong opportunity to grow within an established organisation with three decades of experience.
Final Words
If you meet the qualifications, prepare a clear CV, line up two professional references, and email your application with the correct subject line. Share this post with friends or colleagues in forestry and rural development who may be looking for such an opportunity.
