Chaitanya Hiring 4 Training Associates in Pune for the “Phone Toh Uthao!” Digital Inclusion Project

Chaitanya, an organisation working to empower rural women and youth, has announced openings for Training Associates under its Phone Toh Uthao! – SheConnects Digital Accelerator India project. Four full-time, fixed-term positions are available across Pune district in Maharashtra, and women candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the Project and the Opportunity

Chaitanya is recruiting Training Associates for the Phone Toh Uthao! – SheConnects Digital Accelerator India project. The initiative focuses on rural women and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), helping them become more confident with smartphones, WhatsApp and other digital tools. For many women in rural communities, a smartphone is still used mainly for calls, if at all. This project aims to turn it into a tool for learning, communication and opportunity.

There are four open positions, each a full-time, fixed-term role of 12 months. The postings are spread across four locations in Pune district: Junnar, Chakan, Shikrapur and Rajgurunagar. Candidates can indicate their preferred district when applying.

Key Responsibilities

Training Associates will work at the grassroots level, closely with communities, SHG federations and field teams. The main responsibilities include:

  • Training and capacity building: Conducting training sessions for Digital Champions, community members who will help spread digital skills in their own villages.

  • Supporting SHG meetings: Attending Self-Help Group meetings and monitoring how training is being delivered on the ground.

  • Data collection and reporting: Collecting field data and maintaining accurate, timely reports.

  • Coordination: Working with SHG federations and field teams so that activities run smoothly.

  • Quality and follow-up: Ensuring the project is implemented well and that follow-up activities are carried out after each training.

The role combines training, monitoring and documentation, so it suits people who are comfortable both in the field and with basic reporting work.

Eligibility and Requirements

Chaitanya has listed the following profile for candidates:

  • Education: A graduate degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Agriculture or a related field.

  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of field experience with SHGs, NGOs, rural communities or government programmes.

  • Skills: Good communication and training or facilitation skills.

  • Digital comfort: Ease with smartphones, WhatsApp and other digital tools, which matters because candidates will be teaching these skills to others.

  • Languages: Marathi and Hindi, since the work is based in Maharashtra.

  • Mobility: A two-wheeler and willingness to travel extensively, as the role involves regular visits to villages and SHG meetings.

The organisation has also said that women candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. This fits the project’s focus on women’s digital empowerment, since women trainers can often build trust more easily with women participants in rural settings.

Why This Role Matters

Digital access is now closely tied to everyday needs such as banking, government schemes, health information and income opportunities. Yet many rural women still face barriers: limited exposure to technology, low confidence, or the lack of someone to guide them. Programmes that build local Digital Champions help address this by creating a network of peer supporters who stay in the community long after the formal training ends.

For professionals with an NGO or rural development background, the Training Associate role offers hands-on experience in a digital inclusion programme. It also offers a chance to work directly with SHGs and community leaders, a combination of skills that is increasingly valued across the development sector.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should send their updated CV along with a brief cover letter (maximum one page) to:

interview@chaitanyaindia.org

The email subject line should read: Application – Training Associate | Preferred District

Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis, so early applicants may have an advantage. Applicants should mention which of the four locations they prefer, and keep the cover letter short and specific, highlighting relevant field experience with SHGs or rural programmes, language skills and the ability to travel.
