Join Chaupal: Accounts & Logistics Manager Opportunity in Udaipur, Rajasthan

Are you an experienced finance and logistics professional passionate about making a difference? Chaupal (Chaupal Gramin Vikas Prashikshan Evam Shodh Sansthan), a respected voluntary organization dedicated to tribal communities in Chhattisgarh, is seeking an Accounts and Logistics Manager. This pivotal role, based in Udaipur (Surguja), Rajasthan, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to vital community development initiatives, particularly their innovative "Laika Ghar" (crèche) project.

About Chaupal: Empowering Tribal Communities

Established in 2006, Chaupal has rapidly become a key player in advocating for the rights of tribal communities in India. Initially active in 18 districts, the organization now focuses its impactful work across four districts of Chhattisgarh. Chaupal's core mission revolves around securing right to food, nutrition and health, right to equality and dignity, and tribal people’s rights over natural resources. Their direct engagement with communities, coupled with robust research for advocacy, has solidified their presence on both national and state-level platforms.

The "Laika Ghar" Project: Nurturing Young Lives

A significant part of Chaupal's work involves the "Laika Ghar" (crèche) project, designed to support tribal families and their young children. These crèches serve multiple critical objectives:

  • Safe Environment: Providing a secure and stimulating space for children aged 6 months to 3 years while parents are at work.

  • Nutritional Support: Demonstrating the importance of solid foods beyond breast milk and actively preventing/improving malnutrition among this vulnerable age group.

  • Education for Siblings: Enabling older siblings, who often drop out to care for younger children, to return to school.

  • Economic Empowerment: Allowing parents to pursue work and increase their household income.

Each "Laika Ghar" unit is typically managed by one caretaker for every ten children, with two caretakers for centers with 13 or more. Caretakers, sourced from the local community, receive ongoing training in child care, hygiene, nutrition, and early learning, ensuring a high standard of support for the children.

Your Role: Driving Financial and Operational Excellence

As the Accounts and Logistics Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth financial and operational functioning of Chaupal's projects. Reporting to the Program Manager/Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Management: Meticulous maintenance of accounts, timely payment processing, and accurate submission of financial reports, MIS, and forecasts as per organizational and donor requirements. This includes planning monthly, quarterly, and yearly fund flows and ensuring adherence to all statutory, donor, and organizational compliances.

  • Logistics & Administration: Providing comprehensive logistic support for staff travel, managing all procurements while adhering to policies, and ensuring efficient asset management including safekeeping, insurance, and register updates.

  • Compliance & Audit: Overseeing donor and statutory audits, providing necessary support during donor and stakeholder visits, and ensuring effective utilization of funds (value for money).

  • Office Operations: Overseeing general office administration, maintaining various administrative registers and files, and supporting project activities as needed.

Who We're Looking For: Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Commerce.

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Prior experience within the NGO sector will be given preference.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Tally and MS-Office is essential.
