Empowering Communities: A Call to Action for a Community Coordinator in Theog - Shimla
World Health Partners (WHP), a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering comprehensive healthcare solutions to underserved communities, is looking for a Community Coordinator PRI to join their team in Theog - Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the IMPACT India project, a crucial initiative funded by The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) and implemented in partnership with Karnataka Health Promotion Trust (KHPT).
The Mission: Eradicating TB at the Grassroots Level
The IMPACT India project is a multi-pronged approach to combat tuberculosis (TB) in India, and WHP is leading the charge in selected districts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The project focuses on two primary interventions: TB Mukt Gram Panchayat (TBMGP) and TB Champion (TBC) Engagement. As a Community Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in implementing these activities at the Taluka level in Theog - Shimla.
Your responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with local governance bodies, particularly the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). You'll facilitate training for PRI members, ensuring they are empowered to address TB-related challenges within their communities. By fostering a sense of healthy competition among Panchayats, you will help them work towards a "TB free" status, an achievement that will be officially recognized.
Additionally, you'll be instrumental in the TB Champion (TBC) Engagement initiative. This involves identifying and training individuals—at least one per Health and Wellness Centre—to become TB champions. These champions will utilize the family caregiver model to deliver personalized care and actively participate in district and state-level TB forums.
Who They're Looking For
WHP is seeking a motivated and experienced individual who is passionate about community health. The ideal candidate will have a graduation in any discipline or a higher secondary qualification with a minimum of three years of work experience in a health-related field. Experience working on GLOBAL FUND projects is highly desirable.
You should have a strong understanding of the local context, practices, and language, with excellent interpersonal communication skills. This role requires significant travel within villages (14-20 days a month), so a two-wheeler and a valid driving license are a must. The ability to coordinate with both Health and Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RDPR) departments is also crucial.
WHP is an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. They do not discriminate based on religion, race, class, or gender.
