Join TB Alert India: Empowering Communities to Fight Tuberculosis in Haryana and Punjab!

Are you a passionate community-driven professional looking to make a tangible impact on public health? TB Alert India, a leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to tuberculosis elimination, is seeking four Community Coordinators (PRI) for their impactful IMPACT India project. These vital roles, located in Ambala (Haryana - 3 positions) and Moga (Punjab - 1 position), offer a unique opportunity to work at the grassroots level, empowering local institutions and individuals in the fight against TB.

About TB Alert India: Two Decades of Dedicated Service

For over 20 years, TB Alert India has been a steadfast partner to the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), bridging critical gaps between communities and healthcare systems across eight Indian states. Headquartered in Hyderabad, their work focuses on providing person-centric TB care, specialized services for children, and integrated care for individuals with co-morbidities like diabetes and HIV. Through close collaboration with local governments, community leaders, and frontline health workers, TB Alert India has directly reached over 100,000 beneficiaries and indirectly impacted nearly a million people in the last three years alone.

The IMPACT India Project: A Global Fund Initiative

TB Alert India has been selected as a Sub Recipient to KHPT for implementing the Global Fund-supported IMPACT India project (2024-2027). This ambitious initiative aims to strengthen TB elimination efforts in selected districts of Haryana, Punjab, and Telangana, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Key project elements include TB Champion Engagement and TB Mukt Grama Panchayat (TB Free Village Council) activities, all implemented in close collaboration with state and district NTEP, Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and other allied stakeholders.

Your Role as a Community Coordinator (PRI)

As a Community Coordinator, you will be instrumental in implementing project activities at the Taluka (block) level. This involves two primary interventions:

  • TB Mukt Gram Panchayat (TBMGP): Engaging directly with Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), you will empower and support them in addressing TB challenges. This initiative fosters healthy competition among Panchayats to achieve "TB-free" status, prioritizing TB elimination and acknowledging their contributions.

  • TB Champion (TBC) Engagement: You will identify and train TB champions, aiming for at least one per Health and Wellness Centre. These champions will utilize a family caregiver model to deliver personalized care and actively contribute to district and state TB forums.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Working closely with the Taluka TB Unit (NTEP) and Block Development Officer (BDO) from the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) department.

  • Ensuring the successful rollout and facilitation of planned training for PRI members.

  • Facilitating official communications from BDOs to Gram Panchayats regarding TB Mukt activities and training.

  • Supporting the process of claiming "TB Mukt Gram Panchayat" status.

  • Assisting TB Units in identifying and training TB Champions for deployment in Health and Wellness Centers.

  • Providing follow-up support to trained TB Champions for family care training of caregivers.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A graduate degree in any discipline or higher secondary education with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in health-related field activities.

  • Prior working experience in THE GLOBAL FUND projects is a plus.

  • Knowledge of grassroots TB initiatives is desirable.

  • Strong ability to coordinate with Health and RDPR departments at the block level.

  • Excellent understanding of the local context and practices, with the ability to liaise effectively with block/GP and health facilities.

  • Willingness, flexibility, and ability to work in challenging environments.

  • Proficiency in using electronic gadgets like mobile phones and tabs for documentation.

  • A two-wheeler with a driving license is mandatory, as the position requires 14-20 days of village travel where public transport may be limited.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and fluency in the local language.

Compensation and Application Details:

The compensation for this position will align with internal policies and market standards, with a maximum CTC of Rs. 25,000 per month, subject to last drawn salary and internal parity. The Community Coordinator – PRI will report to the District Lead – PRI&CE of the respective states.
