CSA Is Hiring: Program Officer – Aftercare in Indore, Madhya Pradesh

Catalysts for Social Action (CSA) is looking for a passionate and proactive Program Officer – Aftercare to join its team in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The role is built around one goal: helping young adults who are leaving Child Care Institutions (CCIs) step into independent, fulfilling lives.

A Moment That Changes Everything

For many young people who grow up in institutional care, turning 18 is not only a birthday. It is the day the only support system they have known begins to fall away. Overnight, they are expected to find housing, build a career, manage money, and make decisions about their future, often without family to fall back on.

Without guidance, skills, or a source of income, this transition can be overwhelming. This is the gap that aftercare programs exist to fill, and it is where Catalysts for Social Action works. With its tagline, “A family for every child,” CSA believes that every young adult leaving institutional care deserves the opportunity to build an independent and fulfilling future.

As Program Officer – Aftercare, you would be one of the people turning that belief into daily action. The right support at the right time can change the course of someone’s life, and this role puts you in a position to provide it.

About the Role

The Program Officer – Aftercare will support young adults transitioning out of CCIs through career guidance, skill development, livelihood opportunities, and independent living support. The position sits within the Operations department, specifically the Aftercare and Livelihood vertical, and reports to the Location In-charge.

Key Responsibilities

Creating individual plans. Every young person has different strengths, interests, and circumstances. You will develop individualised aftercare and livelihood plans for each young adult, so the support they receive is tailored rather than generic.

Guiding careers and education. You will facilitate career counselling, skill training, and higher education opportunities. For many young adults, simply learning what options exist is the first step. Your role is to help them see those options and move toward them with confidence.

Supporting employment and tracking progress. Finding a first job is a major milestone, but it is not the end of the journey. You will support employment opportunities and monitor each young person’s progress, ensuring that help continues after placement.

Working in the field. This is not a desk-bound position. You will conduct regular field visits to CCIs, aftercare homes, and training institutes, staying close to the young people and the institutions that serve them.

Documenting the work. You will maintain program data, reports, case studies, and documentation. Good records keep a program accountable, help identify what is working, and tell the story of a young person’s journey in a way that donors, partners, and policymakers can understand.

Building partnerships. Aftercare cannot succeed in isolation. You will coordinate with government stakeholders, NGOs, CCIs, and training institutions, creating a network of support around each young adult.

Supporting program management. You will also assist with budget management and program implementation, helping ensure that resources are used well and activities run smoothly.

Who Should Apply

CSA is looking for someone who combines compassion with practical, organised work.

Educational qualification: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Social Work or a related field.

Experience: 2–3 years of relevant experience. Prior work in livelihood or youth-focused programs is preferred.

Skills required:

  • Strong data management skills

  • Analytical ability

  • Clear and effective communication

  • Program implementation skills

  • A proactive, hands-on approach

The emphasis on data management and analysis stands out. Aftercare work depends on tracking outcomes, measuring progress, and reporting accurately. Professionals who can pair field-level social work with strong documentation, monitoring, and reporting skills will find this role especially rewarding.

Is This Role Right for You?

This position may be a strong match if you:

  • Care deeply about youth empowerment and child protection

  • Are comfortable moving between fieldwork, stakeholder meetings, and reporting

  • Are willing to travel extensively across Madhya Pradesh

  • Want to see the direct, visible impact of your work on young people’s lives

  • Enjoy solving practical problems, from arranging training to coordinating with government offices

The work will demand patience, empathy, and persistence. It will also offer something rare: the chance to walk alongside a young person at a turning point and watch them build a stable, independent future.
