DW is searching for a talented and experienced Digital Video Editor (Tamil) (f/m/d) to join their Programming team in Chennai, India. This is a freelance contract position, initially for two years, with a start date of August 1, 2025, or as soon as possible.
What Will You Be Doing?
As a Digital Video Editor, you'll be central to DW's video production, transforming raw footage into captivating content for a global audience. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Producing Engaging Videos: You'll edit and assemble raw footage into polished, compelling videos designed for various platforms, including YouTube, social media, advertisements, and internal use.
Collaborative Content Creation: Working closely with shift editors, producers, and social media managers, you'll ensure that every video project achieves its objectives and resonates with its target demographic.
Enhancing Visual and Audio Elements: Your expertise in color correction, sound design, transitions, and effects will be vital in elevating the storytelling impact of each video.
Cultural Localization: A key aspect of this role involves seamlessly adapting English videos into Tamil, ensuring they maintain relevance, authenticity, and cultural resonance for Tamil-speaking viewers.
Delivering High-Quality Work on Time: You'll be expected to consistently produce high-quality content, adhering to strict deadlines while upholding the highest editorial standards.
Multi-Platform Optimization: Adapting content for various formats, aspect ratios, and platforms will be a regular part of your workflow.
Organized Asset Management: Maintaining a well-organized archive of media assets and project files is essential for efficient operations.
Who Are We Looking For? Your Ideal Profile:
DW is seeking a professional with a strong combination of technical skill, creative vision, and journalistic integrity. Here's what they're looking for in a candidate:
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field, a completed editorial traineeship, or a comparable journalistic qualification.
Proven Experience: Several years of relevant professional experience as a video editor, coupled with a strong familiarity with social media. Experience in videography is an added benefit.
Language Proficiency: Strong Tamil speaking skills are essential, along with a very good knowledge of English.
Organizational Acumen: Excellent planning and organizational skills, a proactive and pragmatic approach, and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Flexibility: A willingness to travel and to work on weekends.
