Role Overview: Bridging Science and Strategy

As the Documentation & Communication Officer, you will be the voice of the project. Your primary mission is to translate complex scientific data into engaging narratives that drive outreach and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Strategic Communication: Developing and implementing comprehensive communication tools and strategies for the project.

  • Content Creation: Crafting press releases, website content, social media updates, and high-quality technical articles.

  • Documentation: Maintaining systematic records of project outputs, including M&E (Monitoring & Evaluation) reports and progress summaries.

  • Field Support: Providing on-ground documentation support and assisting in the organization of seminars and workshops.

Who is the Ideal Candidate?

NEWS is looking for a candidate who combines academic rigor with creative communication skills.

Academic & Professional Requirements:

  • Education: M.Sc. in Life Sciences/Environmental Science OR a Postgraduate degree in Journalism/Mass Communication (preferably with a science background).

  • Experience: 3–5 years of proven experience in communication strategy and technical writing.

  • Language Skills: Mandatory proficiency in English (both written and verbal); knowledge of Assamese is highly preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and basic design tools like Canva or Photoshop.

Note: Candidates should have a solid understanding of climate change, biodiversity, and wetland frameworks.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: ₹35,000 – ₹40,000 per month (negotiable for exceptionally qualified candidates).
