The Role: Finance Consultant – Central Operations
The Finance Consultant/Manager Finance will be integral to SNEHA's Central Operations – Finance department, based in Santacruz, Mumbai. Reporting to the Associate Director-Finance, this position is crucial for managing and monitoring program budgets, ensuring financial compliance, and leading audits.
Key Responsibilities include:
Program Budgeting & Planning: Preparing and refining program budgets in line with proposals and operational plans, ensuring accuracy and programmatic alignment.
Monthly Financial Review: Conducting monthly review meetings with program teams to analyze budget variances, forecast expenses, and report critical deviations to the central finance team.
Documentation & Compliance: Ensuring meticulous record-keeping and accounting of all project-related vouchers in Tally, adhering to organizational and donor audit standards.
Bank & Ledger Reconciliation: Overseeing monthly reconciliation of dedicated bank accounts and timely review of payables, receivables, and cost center ledgers for all managed projects.
Donor Reporting & Audit Management: Preparing funder-specific utilization reports, explaining any underutilization, and leading donor audits and financial due diligence.
Funder Coordination: Providing financial data in donor-prescribed formats, supporting budget sections of MoUs, and ensuring adherence to all donor-specific financial compliances.
Funding & Reallocations: Drafting and submitting fund requests and budget reallocation proposals, attending donor meetings, and accurately representing financial information.
Cost Allocation & Oversight: Managing the allocation of project management and operational costs across relevant projects and tracking shared program expenses.
Payment Authorization: Reviewing and approving payment vouchers according to the organizational approval matrix.
Bank Transfers: Preparing and authorizing monthly fund transfer statements from project bank accounts to central accounts.
Tally Code Approvals: Approving and overseeing donor-related cost codes in Tally for accurate financial mapping.
Team Training & Induction: Conducting timely budget inductions for finance and program teams, and building capacity in Associate Program Directors, Program Directors, and Finance Coordinators on budget creation and interpretation.
Payroll Review: Approving monthly Tally entries for salary and consultant remuneration.
Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborating with domain and program teams to ensure seamless implementation of financial processes.
Additional Assignments: Undertaking other finance-related responsibilities during audits, income tax scrutiny, or as directed by Finance leadership.

Who We’re Looking For

Educational Requirement: A Master's Degree or higher in Commerce/Financial Management, with a minimum of 5 years of work experience.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of similar work experience in an accounts/finance department.
Critical Traits:
In-depth understanding of accounting principles and relevant thematic knowledge.
Effective planning and implementation skills for timely task completion.
Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to multitask effectively.
Effective team management and delegation skills.
Excellent communication skills – both written and oral.
Proficiency in Tally ERP 9, MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT) is essential.
