A Role at the Forefront of Rural Transformation
This key position is central to a broader mission of improving rural livelihoods through innovative and climate-resilient practices. As the Fishery Expert, you will be a vital link in a comprehensive development program, directly influencing the adoption of scientific fish farming techniques in the districts of Balangir, Ganjam, Kalahandi, and Mayurbhanj.
Your responsibilities will span the entire aquaculture value chain, from capacity building and technical guidance to market linkage and cooperative strengthening. You will be instrumental in:
Empowering Communities: Providing regular field guidance to farmers and Project Partners (PPs) on effective fisheries interventions.
Building Capacity: Training and mentoring a dedicated team of Fishery Facilitators (CFT) to ensure knowledge transfer at the grassroots level.
Driving Innovation: Implementing climate-resilient, scientific fish farming methods in collaboration with district-level extension officers.
Fostering Entrepreneurship: Identifying and nurturing prospective entrepreneurs for the establishment of captive nurseries and fish seed production.
Strengthening Local Institutions: Revitalizing existing Fishery Cooperative Societies and facilitating the formation of new ones to promote collective growth.
Ensuring Inclusivity: Actively working to integrate women and other vulnerable groups into fish production, ensuring equitable benefits.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is a Graduate in Fishery Discipline with a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in fishery promotion. We are particularly interested in individuals who have hands-on experience working with fishery cooperatives or primary fishery cooperative societies. Strong computer, training, and documentation skills are essential for this role, as you will be responsible for maintaining databases, recording best practices, and ensuring effective communication.
You should be a collaborative team player, comfortable working in coordination with a diverse group of experts and reporting directly to the Team Leader. Your ability to provide high-quality extension services and demonstrate both intensive and semi-intensive fish farming techniques will be critical to your success.
