Position Overview & Core Focus
The Programme Manager will lead a dedicated team in the design, planning, and implementation of new construction initiatives as well as vital repair projects across housing, institutional, and infrastructure sectors.
A central focus of this role is establishing institutional best practices. The ideal candidate will handle technical reviews of architectural and infrastructure designs, driving innovative, alternative solutions that balance the needs of user groups with the organization's high standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will carry a diverse portfolio of responsibilities, ranging from on-the-ground technical supervision to high-level strategic planning:
Quality & Project Management: Ensure absolute adherence to AKDN quality standards across all civil and infrastructural initiatives while managing resources, costs, time, and energy efficiency for both new builds and repairs.
Technical Design & Review: Spearhead infrastructure design solutions, manage technical reviews of incoming projects, and conduct structural audits or Rapid Structural Diagnosis to assess critical infrastructure needs.
Green & Alternative Technology: Recommend and supervise pilot projects utilizing alternative technologies for green construction, efficient waste management, and improved energy solutions.
Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Support: Provide core technical inputs to the housing development and environmental planning teams based on community preferences, and liaise closely with regulatory authorities and government officials.
Team Leadership & Growth: Standardize internal processes, manage team timelines, contribute to yearly budgeting, and identify new project opportunities aligned with the organization's overarching vision.
Qualifications & Experience Required
To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate a strong technical foundation paired with robust project management capabilities:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. A Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Construction Management is highly preferred, and a PMP certification is considered a distinct advantage.
Experience: Between 8 to 10 years of experience in construction, heavily focused on infrastructure development or real estate (particularly housing projects in urban and rural settings). Prior experience in the social sector or overseas is highly preferred.
Technical Skills: * Proficiency in creating Gantt charts and structural designs.
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and current CAD software.
Deep understanding of construction quality assurance, Indian building codes across various seismic zones, and green building technologies (including cooling and renewable energy solutions).
Solid grasp of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) alongside an understanding of community development metrics.
