A Lifeline for Survivors: Shakti Shalini's Crisis Intervention and Counseling Centre
Shakti Shalini's Crisis Intervention and Counseling Centre (CICC) serves as the crucial initial point of contact for individuals seeking support after experiencing gender or sexual violence. Beyond a simple helpline, the CICC delivers a comprehensive array of services, including crisis intervention, counseling, rescue assistance, shelter facilitation, access to healthcare (mental, physical, sexual, and reproductive), legal aid, rehabilitation, and follow-up.
The CICC's dedication extends to all survivors, regardless of their gender, sex, or sexual orientation, addressing various forms of abuse—be it physical, sexual, psycho-emotional, financial, social, or institutional. With survivors reaching out from diverse channels—helplines, courts, police stations, other NGOs, and digital platforms—the CICC operates with a deep commitment to individual autonomy, choice, and dignity, providing support nationwide.
The Core of Support: Responsibilities of the Helpline Coordinator
As a Helpline Coordinator, you'll be at the forefront of this essential service, guiding a team of five Helpline Social Workers. Your primary duty will be to ensure that every call to Shakti Shalini's PAN India helplines (011-24373737, 7838957810 - Call/WhatsApp, available 10 AM-6 PM daily) is handled with the utmost care, sensitivity, and expertise.
This demanding yet incredibly fulfilling role requires a strong grasp of gender, sex, sexuality, and SGBV, along with foundational counseling and social work skills. Your responsibilities will include:
Leading and fostering the Helpline Team with a balanced approach of trust and accountability.
Managing the logistics for a 24/7 helpline, which involves creating monthly rosters and overseeing leave requests.
Ensuring meticulous documentation of all calls, with particular attention to survivor information.
Compiling, refining, and organizing survivor data for subsequent actions and interventions.
Analyzing helpline data to identify patterns and trends, contributing to surveys and research.
Providing crucial assistance to the broader CICC team and shelter operations during periods of lower helpline activity.
This position demands adaptability and commitment, involving early morning, day, and full night shifts, capped at 40 hours per week. Shakti Shalini prioritizes and guarantees the travel and safety of its coordinators during these shifts.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Shakti Shalini is seeking an individual with:
A postgraduate degree, preferably in social work and/or counseling.
At least 2 years of work experience, ideally in counseling, survivor support, or gender-related fields.
Exceptional team leadership abilities that blend trust and accountability.
A strong organizational, structured, and diligent work ethic.
Fluency in English and Hindi (speaking, writing, reading, and comprehension).
Proficiency in computer skills, including Google Suite and potentially Canva.
The capability to perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis and produce well-structured reports.
A deep-seated commitment to gender equality and the eradication of violence.
A caring, empathetic, non-judgmental, and self-reflective demeanor.
Compensation and Application Process
The selected Helpline Coordinator will receive a monthly compensation of Rs. 40,000, with a six-month probationary period at Rs. 38,000 per month. The anticipated start date is Monday, July 28, 2025.
