Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra | Apply by: October 24, 2025

The Jai Vakeel Foundation (JVF), a leading and pioneering institution for individuals with Intellectual Disability (ID) in India, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager - Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) to bolster its mission. This crucial role, based in Mumbai, will be instrumental in measuring, evaluating, and improving the profound impact of JVF’s holistic programs—which span Healthcare, Education, and Skill Development—for a deeply underserved population.

The Core Challenge: Ensuring Impact and Inclusion

With an estimated 28 million Indians having Intellectual Disability, this community faces immense stigma and a critical lack of resources, often remaining excluded from the mainstream development discourse. The Jai Vakeel Foundation is dedicated to closing this gap, serving over 750 individuals annually in Mumbai and Maharashtra, with a commitment to providing services regardless of a family's ability to pay or an individual's IQ.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to an organization whose vision is the Inclusion of all individuals with Intellectual Disability (ID).

Role Overview: Driving Data-Informed Change

Reporting to the Head of MEL, the Manager will be a key player in fostering a culture of continuous learning and data-driven decision-making across the organization. The position is a cornerstone for ensuring that JVF’s impactful programs—from its four schools and Vocational Training Centre to the expansive Disha Abhiyan initiative impacting over 18,000 children across Maharashtra—are rigorously evaluated and continually refined.

Key Responsibilities

The MEL Manager's work will be split across several critical areas:

  • Research, Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting: This involves conducting robust program impact evaluations and generating scientific knowledge products for both internal strategy and external stakeholders. The Manager will coordinate meticulous data collection, ensure its accuracy and reliability, and produce high-quality MEL reports.

  • Facilitating Learning and Knowledge Sharing: A core component of the role is documenting and disseminating key learnings, insights, and best practices within JVF. This includes supporting the integration of MEL findings into future program planning and helping to organize learning workshops and review meetings.

  • Stakeholder and Donor Support: The Manager will assist the Head of MEL in meeting essential donor reporting and compliance requirements, preparing evidence-based inputs for grant applications, and creating compelling donor presentations.

Required Profile: Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of academic knowledge and practical experience in the development sector.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: A Master’s degree is required in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, Development Studies, Population Science, Statistics, or Public Policy.

  • Experience: 5-7 years of overall experience, preferably within the development sector, with a minimum of 3 years directly in research or monitoring and evaluation.

  • MEL Expertise: Proven experience in supporting MEL framework development, implementing impact evaluations, and overseeing data collection processes.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in statistical tools/software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, or R) and a basic understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

Essential Competencies:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • The ability to collaborate effectively and support cross-functional program teams.

Apply to Make a Difference

This is a vital opportunity to apply expertise in MEL to an organization that is making tangible, life-changing differences for one of India's most marginalized populations. By supporting the measurement and improvement of JVF’s services, the MEL Manager will directly contribute to realizing the potential of children and adults with Intellectual Disability.

Relevant Sectors: Capacity Building, Training, Advocacy, Monitoring, Evaluation, Policy, Research, Social, Gender, Education, Youth, Child.
