The Akshaya Patra Foundation, a global leader in social impact and the force behind one of the world’s largest Mid-Day Meal Programmes, is expanding its leadership team. The organization is currently seeking a seasoned professional for the role of Manager – Purchase (CAPEX) to be based in Hyderabad, Telangana.
With a mission to eliminate classroom hunger, Akshaya Patra currently serves over 2.25 million meals daily across 16+ states. As they aim for an ambitious goal of 6 million meals by 2030, this role offers a unique opportunity to blend professional procurement expertise with a meaningful social cause.
The Role: Strategic Procurement for Massive Scale
The Manager – Purchase (CAPEX) will be the cornerstone of the foundation’s infrastructure growth. This position is responsible for leading the procurement of capital equipment, utilities, and infrastructure essential for Akshaya Patra’s centralized kitchens and large-scale expansion projects.
Key Responsibilities Include:
End-to-End Procurement: Planning and executing the purchase of heavy machinery, including boilers, conveyors, HVAC, and electrical systems.
Vendor Ecosystem Management: Identifying and empanelling high-quality OEMs, contractors, and fabricators.
Strategic Collaboration: Working alongside Engineering and Project teams to manage technical specifications, BOQs, and procurement schedules.
Financial Oversight: Preparing and monitoring CAPEX budgets while ensuring cost optimization and adherence to donor compliance norms.
Project Lifecycles: Managing everything from greenfield and brownfield projects to FAT/SAT and final commissioning support.
Qualifications and Experience
Akshaya Patra is looking for a candidate who combines technical knowledge with strategic sourcing prowess.
Education: B.Tech / BE in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering. An MBA in Supply Chain is highly preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 8–12 years in CAPEX procurement.
Industry Background: Experience in food processing, industrial projects, large-scale manufacturing plants, or infrastructure is a significant advantage.
Core Skills: Expert-level knowledge of contract management, project management, and the ability to thrive in high-volume, deadline-driven environments.
