Empowering Change: A Career Opportunity in Maternal and Newborn Health

Development Consortium (DC), in collaboration with Ansh, is at the forefront of a critical mission to transform maternal and newborn care in India. The two organizations are dedicated to reducing neonatal mortality and morbidity, particularly among low birth weight and preterm infants, through the implementation of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC). This scientifically proven and cost-effective method is more than just a medical procedure; it's a holistic approach to care that prioritizes the well-being of both mother and child.

DC and Ansh are currently seeking a passionate and skilled professional to join their team as a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Coordinator in various districts across Rajasthan. This full-time position, with a preference for a female candidate, is a vital part of a program that is making a tangible difference on the ground.

The Power of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC)

At the heart of the program are three core pillars of KMC:

  • Skin-to-Skin Contact: This practice helps regulate the infant's body temperature, reducing the risk of hypothermia.

  • Close Monitoring: Regular monitoring ensures early detection and response to any potential danger signs in both the mother and newborn.

  • Exclusive Breastfeeding: This boosts the infant's immunity and promotes healthy weight gain.

To effectively implement KMC, the program's model includes repurposing facility space for dedicated Kangaroo Care, training clinicians and nurses, and deploying specialized KMC counsellors. The program also includes structured post-discharge follow-ups to ensure mothers continue these beneficial practices at home.

The Role: M&E Coordinator

As the M&E Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, effectiveness, and impact of the KMC program. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Data Collection and Management: You will collect and manage data using app-based platforms like Dimagi CommCare and other Android applications.

  • Quality Assurance: You will monitor data quality, identify and address inconsistencies, and provide guidance to nursing staff to ensure accuracy and reliability.

  • Reporting and Analysis: You will analyze program data and participate in regular M&E calls to discuss findings and develop action plans for continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in a relevant field such as Medical or Dental Health Sciences, Public Health, or Social Work. A minimum of one year of experience in monitoring and evaluation is required, with consideration for fresh graduates who have strong internship experience. Knowledge of data collection using mobile applications and proficiency in MS Office are essential. Prior experience in Rajasthan and fluency in Hindi are highly desirable.

The salary for this position is Rs 6,00,000 per annum.
