Role and Responsibilities
As a Panchayat Coordinator, you'll be the crucial link connecting local communities, Panchayat-level institutions, and the block administration. Your main goal is to ensure the effective implementation of welfare and development programs, thereby strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). The position requires a hands-on approach, combining field work with administrative tasks.
1. Strengthening PRIs and Development Planning: You'll support Gram Panchayats in planning, implementing, and monitoring development schemes. A key responsibility is assisting in the creation of Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDP), ensuring that these plans are developed with active community participation. You'll also help ensure compliance with state and central government guidelines.
2. Scheme Implementation and Monitoring: You'll assist in the effective implementation of flagship government schemes like MGNREGA, PMAY, NRLM, and the Jal Jeevan Mission. This involves maintaining accurate records, reports, and data, along with regular field visits to monitor progress and quality.
3. Capacity Building and Community Mobilization: A core part of the job is building the capacity of local leaders and community members. You'll organize training sessions for Panchayat representatives and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to raise awareness about governance, rights, and entitlements. You will also facilitate Gram Sabhas and community meetings, promoting the participation of women, marginalized groups, and other vulnerable communities. Your efforts will help foster transparency by promoting social audits and effective grievance redressal mechanisms.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you should have an intermediate degree and at least 3 years of field-level experience in rural development, governance, or community mobilization. A strong understanding of the Panchayati Raj system and major government schemes is essential. You must be proficient in Hindi, and a working knowledge of local tribal languages would be a valuable asset. The position also requires basic computer literacy for reporting and data management. Female candidates are preferred.
