Drive Impact with JICA India: Project Officer Opportunity in Delhi!

Are you a dedicated professional with a passion for international development? Here's your chance to contribute to India's progress and strengthen bilateral ties between India and Japan. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) India Office is actively seeking a Project Officer to join its dynamic team in Delhi. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to work with a leading organization at the forefront of Official Development Assistance (ODA).

About JICA's Mission in India

For over seven decades, JICA has been a steadfast partner in India's socio-economic advancement. As a primary implementing body for Japan's ODA, JICA's mission centers on fostering human security and promoting quality growth globally. In India, JICA's diverse portfolio spans critical sectors including transportation, energy, water and sanitation, forestry, agriculture, health, human resource development, and disaster risk management. These initiatives not only spur India's development but also deepen the strong relationship between the two nations. The JICA India Office operates through dedicated teams, ensuring maximum developmental impact and fostering a collaborative work environment.

The Project Officer Role: Your Contribution

As a Project Officer (classified as Professional B), you'll be integral to the successful execution of JICA's vital development projects. Working within sectoral teams, often guided by Japanese Representatives and Development Specialists, your responsibilities will include:

  • Project Compliance and Disbursement: Ensuring projects adhere to Loan Agreement stipulations, accurately processing loan disbursement claims from Executing Agencies, handling procurement documents, and tracking project reports. This involves understanding JICA's internal regulations and maintaining strong relationships with Indian government counterparts and JICA headquarters colleagues.

  • Technical Cooperation Facilitation: Implementing activities related to Technical Cooperation Projects, such as planning and follow-up for Indian participants in JICA's training programs and invitation schemes. You'll also organize various seminars based on team concepts.

  • Operational Support: Providing essential logistical and administrative support to the office, management, and your assigned team. This includes coordinating meetings, arranging business trips (which you may occasionally join), managing office documentation, and liaising with JICA headquarters missions.

  • Adherence to Standards: Consistently upholding the highest ethical and moral standards, aligning with JICA's identity as a Japanese public institution, and strictly following office rules and regulations.

This position is an excellent launchpad for individuals aiming to develop robust project management skills, acquire in-depth sectoral knowledge, and advance their careers within the international development landscape.

  • Academic Foundation: A university degree, preferably in a development-relevant field such as economics, law, engineering, or social studies. A Master's degree is a distinct advantage. PhD or Doctoral degrees are not required.

  • Professional Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience. Prior experience with Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), or other bilateral organizations is highly desirable.
