A Leading Role in Driving Rehabilitation Progress
Under the guidance of the Regional Technical Head of Programme (THOP), the Regional Rehabilitation Specialist will provide strategic technical leadership for the development and execution of regional strategies and action plans. This role demands a proactive and insightful individual ready to make a substantial difference.
Key responsibilities will include:
Shaping Strategy: Spearheading the creation and implementation of regional rehabilitation strategies, ensuring alignment with HI’s global frameworks and standards.
Enhancing Presence: Boosting HI’s profile and influence within the rehabilitation sector through active engagement in relevant regional and country-level networks, forums, and platforms.
Strengthening Systems: Collaborating with country teams to fortify national rehabilitation sectors, with a particular focus on integrating rehabilitation services into broader health systems where appropriate.
Advocacy and Communication: Contributing to targeted advocacy efforts on critical rehabilitation themes and tailoring regional/local communication in line with global priorities.
Project Innovation & Funding: Guiding the conceptualization and development of new and significant rehabilitation projects, including proposal writing, and facilitating fundraising initiatives specifically for the sector.
Quality and Impact: Ensuring the highest standards of quality and positive impact for rehabilitation projects across the region by providing expert technical guidance, rigorous quality control, and mechanisms for monitoring the relevance of HI’s activities.
Learning and Growth: Championing initiatives for professional development among rehabilitation personnel and contributing to research and innovation projects within the region.
Emergency Preparedness: Supporting the program’s emergency preparedness actions and adapting working approaches during crises to contribute effectively to humanitarian responses.
Ideal Candidate Profile
This challenging yet highly rewarding role seeks a professional with a robust background and dedication. Applicants should possess:
A Master’s degree in physiotherapy, prosthetics or orthotics, occupational therapy, or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree in these fields with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
At least 3 years of experience in a senior rehabilitation technical capacity, demonstrating expertise across multiple countries.
Proven experience in bolstering the rehabilitation sector and in professional capacity building (training, coaching).
In-depth knowledge and understanding of global standards and guidelines pertinent to rehabilitation professions and services.
Demonstrated experience in networking and influencing stakeholders to enhance the rehabilitation sector in the South Asia region.
Exceptional skills in public relations, representation, and both internal and external communication.
Familiarity with the norms, legal frameworks, and references related to rehabilitation and disability inclusion in global and regional contexts.
A strategic and analytical mindset and fluency in written and spoken English.
