The Role: Pioneering Climate Data and Strategy in Assam
The chosen Senior Program Associate will play a critical part in this mission, particularly within Assam. Key responsibilities for this dynamic position include:
Crafting a comprehensive GHG emission profile for Assam, with a particular focus on the industry and waste sectors. This undertaking will adhere to globally recognized standards, such as the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National GHG Inventories.
Implementing a robust data collection framework, necessitating close collaboration with various government departments, agencies, local institutions, and civil society organizations.
Identifying critical data gaps and strategically utilizing proxy data to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the GHG emission profile.
Conducting in-depth quantitative and qualitative research to inform the development of impactful low-carbon pathways for Assam, with a specific emphasis on Waste, Industrial Energy Use, and Industrial Processes and Product Use (IPPU).
Facilitating extensive engagement with stakeholders and decision-makers through consultations to gather vital inputs and validate findings.
Contributing significantly to technical reports, various publications, articles, and blogs that meticulously document research, compelling case studies, and invaluable insights.

Who We Are Looking For
WRI India is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional possessing:
A post-graduate degree in relevant fields such as energy, environmental engineering or planning, climate change, or sustainable development.
4-7 years of specialized experience in climate change and climate action, coupled with practical knowledge of developing GHG inventories at national or sub-national levels.
Demonstrated expertise in GHG accounting and effectively identifying decarbonization levers across diverse sectors.
Proven experience in conducting research on climate change mitigation, encompassing both data analysis and the effective presentation of findings through various publications.
A strong track record of successful collaboration with government bodies and diverse stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills and proficiency in both quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis.
The ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Hindi/Assamese language skills are highly advantageous.
This position is structured as a 1-year term hire, with the potential for extension contingent on performance and project requirements, and is based in Guwahati, Assam. The compensation package ranges from INR 14,00,000 to 18,00,000 CTC Per Annum, scaled with experience and skills, alongside a comprehensive benefits package.
