Patanjali Research Foundation Is Hiring C. elegans Researchers for Its Drug Discovery Division
Patanjali Research Foundation (PRF) in Haridwar, India, is looking for a Senior Research Scientist and a Research Scientist to lead work with the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans). The positions sit in the Drug Discovery & Development Division. They suit researchers who want to use a well-established model organism to study aging, disease and natural product pharmacology.
About the Institute
PRF describes itself as a fully integrated research institute that uses modern experimental approaches to study Ayurvedic medicines for treating various diseases. Its portfolio spans several research areas and includes a substantial clinical testing pipeline.

The Role
The selected candidate will focus on research into aging, metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, host-pathogen interactions, natural product screening, toxicology and drug discovery, using C. elegans as the experimental model. The job involves experimental design, execution, data analysis, scientific writing and collaboration across disciplines. PRF says it needs strong technical expertise, precision and a proactive approach.
Laboratory and experimental work
Design, execute and optimize C. elegans-based studies
Maintain and characterize C. elegans strains and mutant libraries
Run lifespan, healthspan, fertility, developmental, stress resistance, locomotion and behavioral assays
Conduct RNAi-based functional studies and genetic screening
Carry out molecular biology experiments, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, cloning and gene expression analysis
Use fluorescence and confocal microscopy for imaging and phenotype characterization
Analysis, writing and compliance
Analyze experimental data with appropriate statistical tools
Prepare scientific reports, manuscripts, patents and grant proposals
Develop and maintain laboratory SOPs, protocols and research documentation
Ensure compliance with laboratory quality systems, biosafety and institutional guidelines
Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams and external collaborators
Additional Responsibilities for the Senior Role
Senior Research Scientists take on leadership duties on top of the above:
Lead independent research and strategic scientific initiatives
Supervise and mentor Research Scientists, Research Associates, Ph.D. scholars and technical staff
Identify new research opportunities and build national and international collaborations
Contribute to research funding proposals and project management
Drive publication of high-impact scientific manuscripts and intellectual property generation
Who Should Apply
