The State Executive Officer Role: Frontline Leadership
The State Executive Officer – Maharashtra will be the state anchor for RightWalk, responsible for the end-to-end execution, expansion, and deepening of its crucial work across education, policy implementation, inclusion, and youth opportunity.
This is a demanding leadership position that requires a unique combination of systems thinking and on-ground execution. The SEO will be tasked with translating RWF’s national mission into scalable, systemic, and sustained change for the most underserved populations in Maharashtra.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Drive State Strategy & Growth:
Lead the creation and execution of a state-wide strategic roadmap aligned with Maharashtra’s policy priorities.
Develop and drive multi-year implementation plans for scalable and sustainable program delivery.
Establish robust delivery systems using data-backed decision-making and field feedback loops.
Lead Stakeholder Relations & Policy Influence:
Serve as the primary point of engagement with senior state government officials, including Principal Secretaries and CMO representatives, to build trust and alignment.
Drive policy advocacy efforts using data insights and solution-oriented policy briefs.
Forge high-value relationships with industry, donors, and grassroots organizations for multi-stakeholder convergence.
Build High-Performing Teams:
Hire, coach, and lead a mission-aligned, high-performance team, fostering a shared sense of purpose.

Enable Innovation & Systemic Institutionalization:
Design and test innovative delivery models integrating technology and local knowledge.
Lead the process of embedding programs within government machinery through capacity-building and co-owned accountability structures.
Who Will Thrive in This Role?
RightWalk is looking for a leader who can operate fluently between the strategy room and the field site, blending high-level influence with rigorous execution.
Essential Candidate Profile:
Experience: 10–12+ years of experience with a background in Tier I education and/or leadership roles in high-performing corporate or development sector organizations.
Sector Expertise: 5–8 years of experience in the development sector, public policy, or closely working with government systems on large-scale program delivery (ideally in education or livelihoods).
Language Fluency: Fluent in Marathi, in addition to English and Hindi, which is essential for government interfacing and ground-level trust-building.
Mindset: Possesses the maturity and presence to lead complex conversations, is energized by complexity and ambiguity, and operates with a deep commitment to equity, dignity, and long-term systems reform.
This role is perfectly suited for an individual who can own the big picture while relentlessly ensuring execution follows through, driving impact where it matters most.
