Empowering Futures: The Hans Foundation Seeks Dedicated Tutors in Jharkhand

Are you ready to ignite a passion for learning and transform lives? The Hans Foundation (THF), a dynamic Public Charitable Trust established in 2009, is on the lookout for dedicated Tutors to join their impactful Hans Education Programme in Khunti, Jharkhand. This is a remarkable opportunity for individuals with 1-2 years of relevant teaching experience to become a cornerstone in building an equitable society by empowering marginalized communities.

For over 15 years, THF has been a beacon of hope, reaching more than 35 million beneficiaries through its extensive programs focused on health, wellbeing, education, and livelihood development. With a strategic two-fold approach, THF operates in Aspirational Districts and high-poverty index regions, as well as serving lower-income and migratory populations in urban centers.

A Dual Strategy for Educational Excellence

As a Tutor with The Hans Foundation, you'll be instrumental in implementing a holistic educational strategy that spans both in-school support and vital Community-Based Learning Centres (CBLs). This integrated approach is designed to close educational gaps, promote student retention, and enhance overall academic outcomes.

Your vital contributions will include:

  • Academic Enrichment: Facilitating remedial classes in crucial subjects like Science (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) and Language skills (English). You'll craft personalized learning plans, assist with test preparation, and introduce effective study strategies.

  • Nurturing Confidence: Designing and leading activities specifically aimed at boosting students' self-assurance and academic performance, providing consistent, constructive feedback to foster engagement and motivation.

  • Collaborative Learning: Working in tandem with schoolteachers to ensure remedial strategies complement regular classroom instruction. This involves monitoring student progress during school hours to guarantee learning objectives are met.

  • Community Outreach & Empowerment: Leading door-to-door surveys to identify and enroll out-of-school children, while also organizing sensitization sessions with parents to underscore the profound importance of education. You'll actively engage with the community to ensure every child finds their place in suitable educational programs.

  • Holistic Development: Within CBLs, beyond core remedial education, you'll conduct spoken English and communication skill sessions and integrate career preparation and life skills training to support students' comprehensive growth.

  • Mentorship & Guidance: Offering personalized guidance and mentorship to support students' academic and personal journeys, collaborating with other mentors to provide robust, all-encompassing support.

  • Tracking Progress & Reporting: Meticulously maintaining academic records, utilizing monitoring tools to assess the quality of remedial sessions, and submitting comprehensive reports on attendance, home visits, parental meetings, and CBL activities to relevant stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The Hans Foundation is seeking individuals who are passionate about education and community development, possessing:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, English, Social Work, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant subject will be given preference.

  • 1-2 years of teaching experience, with a preference for backgrounds in remedial education or community engagement, particularly with schoolchildren in underserved areas.

  • Proficiency in English and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, especially in a mentoring capacity.

  • Familiarity with MS Word and Excel for essential record-keeping and reporting.

  • A demonstrated ability to conduct effective community outreach and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.

This is a part-time position on a 1-year consultant contract basis, offering a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to a program that genuinely transforms lives on the ground.
