CYDA, "The Pulse of YOUNG India," is looking for a WASH Coordinator to join its team in Pune, Maharashtra. The role is a good fit for development professionals who want to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene outcomes in schools and communities.

About the Role

Access to clean water, safe sanitation, and good hygiene practices is basic to children's health, school attendance, and learning. The WASH Coordinator will manage and strengthen WASH in Schools projects, working with schools, communities, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders so that facilities are built, used, and maintained well over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project coordination: Coordinate and manage WASH in Schools projects from start to finish.

  • Field implementation: Oversee field-level implementation, monitoring, and supervision to keep activities on track.

  • Operations and Maintenance (O&M): Support the upkeep of WASH infrastructure so facilities stay functional and the benefits last.

  • Behaviour Change Communication (BCC): Conduct BCC sessions in schools to build healthy hygiene habits among students.

  • Stakeholder collaboration: Work with schools, communities, entrepreneurs, and other partners.

  • MEL and reporting: Handle monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and documentation.

  • Capacity building: Support training activities that build skills among the people involved in the programme.

  • Quality and budgets: Ensure quality standards, compliance, and budget management.

Qualifications and Experience

CYDA is looking for candidates who have:

  • A Bachelor's degree plus an MSW, or a degree in a relevant field

  • At least 2–3 years of experience in WASH project coordination

  • A strong understanding of water, sanitation, and hygiene, and of community engagement

  • Experience working with entrepreneurs or community groups

  • Good skills in data management, reporting, and communication
