Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in your community and protecting our environment? The Centre for Youth Development and Activities (CYDA) is looking for a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as a Waste Management Officer. This is a unique opportunity to lead critical projects, engage with communities, and drive sustainable change on the ground.
What You'll Do:
As a Waste Management Officer, you will be at the forefront of CYDA's mission, leading day-to-day operations and ensuring the successful implementation of our waste management initiatives. Your key responsibilities will include:
Project Implementation: Oversee waste management interventions, from monitoring collection to ensuring safe disposal practices. You will be instrumental in ensuring all activities comply with SWM Rules 2016 and SBM 2.0 guidelines.
Community Engagement: Mobilize Self-Help Groups (SHGs), youth, and community members to promote segregation at source and sustainable practices. You will lead awareness drives, conduct door-to-door campaigns, and train sanitation workers and volunteers.
Team Leadership: Supervise field facilitators, drivers, and sanitation staff, ensuring all team members are on track to meet performance targets.
Coordination & Liaison: Act as a representative for CYDA at field-level reviews, gram sabhas, and stakeholder meetings. You will coordinate permissions and approvals necessary for smooth field operations.
Monitoring & Documentation: Maintain meticulous project records, including logbooks and inventory details. You will be responsible for collecting and analyzing waste data using MIS tools and submitting timely reports to the Program Manager.
Who We're Looking For:
We are seeking a proactive and skilled individual with a strong commitment to environmental and social work.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Social Work, Rural Development, or a related discipline is required.
Experience: You should have a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in waste management or community-based field projects.
Skills: Knowledge of SWM Rules 2016 and SBM 2.0 is essential. We are looking for someone with strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills.
Local Proficiency: Proficiency in the local language (Marathi) and familiarity with rural contexts is preferred. Basic computer skills for data entry, MIS reporting, and documentation are a must.
