About the Role
This full-time, field-based position is designed for candidates passionate about sustainable water management and rural development. The selected expert will play a central role in shaping how communities access, conserve, and manage water resources in a region known for its hard-rock and lateritic terrain — conditions that demand specialized technical expertise in groundwater recharge and watershed planning.
The role comes with a monthly remuneration of ₹33,000 and spans a substantial 36-month engagement, offering long-term project continuity and the chance to see interventions through from planning to measurable outcomes.
What the Job Involves
The Water Resource Management Expert will wear multiple hats — technical planner, trainer, and community mobiliser. Core duties include:
Technical assessments: Carrying out watershed mapping, hydrogeological studies, and village-level water resource planning to inform intervention design.
Infrastructure development: Designing and supervising the construction of water conservation and groundwater recharge structures suited to the region's challenging hard-rock geology.
Water quality and sustainability: Advising on aquifer sustainability and conducting regular water-quality monitoring.
Government scheme convergence: Linking project activities with national and state programmes such as the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDP), and existing watershed and agricultural schemes.
Capacity building: Training Water User Committees (WUCs), Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSCs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) on water-use efficiency and climate-smart agricultural practices.
IEC and reporting: Developing training modules and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, alongside monitoring outcomes and preparing technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Advocacy: Representing the project at block- and district-level forums to support wider policy dialogue and capacity development.
Who Should Apply
Tomorrow's Foundation is looking for candidates who bring both technical depth and on-ground experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Water Resources, Hydrology, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in watershed management, groundwater recharge, or water resource planning.
Prior exposure to hard-rock or lateritic terrain is strongly preferred, given the geological character of Jhargram district.
Demonstrated experience designing or supervising water conservation and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) systems.
Familiarity with government convergence frameworks, including JJM, GPDP, and watershed development schemes.
Strong skills in participatory planning, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), community mobilisation, and training facilitation.
Good communication ability in English and local languages, essential for effective community engagement.
Field Requirements
Since the role involves extensive travel across 40 villages in Binpur-II Block, candidates must have their own laptop and bike/scooty to manage field logistics independently.
